The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG Concept debuted at SEMA. This Concept is an amazing overland truck ready for your next adventure. The trucks looks likes a configuration of Mopar mixed with REI with a heavy Australian influence. OTG stands for “off the grid” which is somewhat different than the standard off-roading. Jeff Dehner, the chief of Ram truck and Mopar designs explains, “Unlike traditional four-wheeling, in over-landing the journey is the final objective. The goal is to explore rather than conquer obstacles.”
The Rebel OTG concept is powered by a 3.0 liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine with a 33-gallon gas tank for the longer adventures. The truck bed features an upscale Dometic refrigerator/freezer powered by rooftop solar panels via a separate 12-volt battery. The truck bed also features a Dometic gas stove and sink that can be utilized past the 60/40 split tailgate. The finishing touches include a pull-out drawer system with a cutting board, a sink, and more utensil storage.
On the Mopar side, the Ram has a concept two-inch lift kit, 35-inch Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar tires on beadlock wheels, a concept front bumper with integrated Warn 10,000 pound winch, a larger grille with flow-through R-A-M badging, and a functional snorkel air intake. Don’t forget to check out the front and rear wheel flares and step-assistant rock rails designed to handle the off-road terrain. A concept rear bumper was added that is adapted from the Ram 1500 Tradesman. It relocates the exhaust to accommodate better off-roading departure angles. The Rebel OTG Concept includes LED off-road driving lights and supplemental backup lamps, plus a rear rack lights system for camping.
The bed rack system has traction mats and a high-lift jack mounted on top of the truck bed. It carries a collapsible rooftop tent with a storable ladder. Other truck features include rock-rail assist, the Ram Tradesman’s molded-vinyl floor versus the standard factory carpeting, a Yakima roof rack and basket, special graphics, and a concept air intake with airbox.
If you are ready to explore the world, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG Concept is speaking your language. This is only one of 14 concept designs that Mopar is displaying at the 2019 SEMA show.
