The new Subaru Crosstrek Desert Baja Racer is finally sporting blue and gold livery. The traditional color combo has always used on the Impreza-based rally cars, but not much else. The Baja Racer is definitely pulling the nostalgic card. Just a clarification, the Baja version of the Crosstrek does not look like the actual Crosstrek model available at dealerships.
This lucky Crosstrek is running in the Baja 500 off-road race through the Baja California Peninsula. Hoping to move up from last years second place, Crawford Performance and Grabowski Brothers Racing are running the race. The Crosstrek Baja Race is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine producing 300 horsepower.
During the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, Subaru released the same livery on the STI rally car. It’s exciting to see the theme used again on the the Baja edition. No information has been released to confirm that the team will drive the Crosstrek in the Baja 1000, or just do the 500 this year. The buggy has a great bug-like stance with aggressive off-road tires, and a massive suspension system. The Crosstrek Baja is ready to take on the competition.
