The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is finally getting a special edition Diesel Engine option. Jeep will borrow the 3.0L turbo diesel V-6 engine used in the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. With the diesel option in the Wrangler, the engine will produce 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. It will be available only on the Unlimited (four door) variation of the Jeep Wrangler. In addition to the Diesel engine, FCA is now also offering LED headlights and fog lights on lower trims.
Jeep has made some changes in the powertrain availability for the 2020 Wrangler. The 2.0L turbo-four or the standard 3.6L Pentastar V-6 is available on any trim. A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the base V-6, and the eight speed automatic is optional upgrade. The 2.0L turbo-four and late-available 3.0L turbodiesel V-6 are both paired with the eight speed automatic.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler will also have two special edition variations, a Willys and Black & Tan Edition. Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – North America made the comment, “Special editions are a perfect way for Jeep to connect with customers and feed their ideas and passion into the brand and its vehicles. Wrangler Willys harkens back to the original Jeep while Wrangler Black & Tan offers a unique look with a tan top. We are proud that both new models will add to the wide appeal Jeep Wrangler already offers.”
