The 2020 Fiat 500x gets flashy with a new color palette and trim. Introduced at the 2018 LA Auto Show, a new bright red model is part of expanding the 500x range to four trims. Newly added is the Sport trim and the flashy red to give the 500x a “youthful, sporty appearance”. Fiat is motivated to grow its customer base by attracting the younger consumers.

Looking at the new options, the new Rovente Red joins the color palette options meaning “scorching” in Italian. The Sport trim has a new front fascia without the rugged-looking moldings on the Trekking trims, adds fog lights at the lower corners, and paints the lower lip in the body color. The normally dark wheel arch liners and side moldings are swapped for body color, but the mirrors and door handles get dark-finish accents to match the Sport badge on the front fender. To coordinate, dark-finish trim accents the tailgate and twin, chrome-finish tailpipes. Owners can even pick the new option of a black roof. Looking at wheels on the 500x, a set of 18-inch is standard. For the first time, FIat is offering a 19-inch wheel wrapped in Michelin CrossClimate all-season tires.

Moving on to the interior, instead of the light-colored upper space, the headliner and pillars have been finished in deep gray materials. The Sport trim seats have black fabric with vinyl inserts and a gray “500” logo. Fiat included some flashy lighter accents too, including aluminum pedal trim covers and a bezel finish on the instrument panel. The steering wheel features “techno-leather” and Alcantara, with real paddle shifters. Alcantara is mirrored over the gauge cluster, plus new graphics on the gauges.

Under the hood, the new 500x has the same trusty 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It has an output of 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque through a nine-speed automatic to all four wheels with on-demand all-wheel drive.

The new Fiat 500x Sport will go on sale in early 2020, with a base price starting at $29,390.  The most expensive option is the Trekking Plus trim which starts at $30,990.
