Superformance CEO Lance Strander announced January 6th, at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s Shelby tribute day, that he is looking into resurrecting the Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept for limited production. The original Shelby GR-1 debuted in the 2005 at the North American International Auto Show. The GR-1 was inspired by the Shelby Daytona Coupe, but only stayed in concept form, producing only one. Superformance is a great options, to give the car life and do it justice. The Irvine, California-based tuner waited until it could get the official licensing to build. Superformance built performance legends like the 50th Anniversary Ford GT, a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Coupe, and the Shelby Cobra. The car will most likely take two years to debut.
