Subaru has dropped another STI S209 teaser ahead of the January 14, 2019 reveal, at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). This is the first time the “S20x” will be available out of the Japanese market. The new Subaru WRX STI S209 will be available with a limited production, though the Japanese company hasn’t given any exact quantities. The new teaser image backs up some of the changes noticed on Subaru’s video teaser from last December over the regular STI. It looks like the STI S209 features a Type RA wing out back, a wide body kit and a pair of dive planes on the side of the front bumper.
The Japan exclusive S208, Subaru’s last special STI model, had a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four with 325 horsepower. In the United States, the STI runs a 2.5-liter boxer engine with 305 horsepower and 310 horsepower in the Type RA. Stateside, we are hoping to see a little more horsepower from the S209. We have less than a week to get all the details.
