The Porsche 911 GT2 RS sets the Road America Lap Record, again! Porsche sets another production-car lap record with its almost 700-hp 911 GT2 RS. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six gas engine, with 690 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque will reach 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds reaching tops speed of around 211 mph. This is the most powerful 911 to date.
Winning this Road America happened one month after Porsche did the same thing at the Road Atlanta. The events were recorded with the VBOX Video HD2 system and Racelogic staff. The Road America is a 14-turn, 4-mile circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Porsche Factory driver, David Donahue, set the 2:15.17 lap. Both Porsche and the Donahue family have history at this track. Mark, David’s late father, drove a Porsche 917/30 race car during the 1970’s.
Porsche better have a plan because several production cars are about to be released for purchase, including the McLaren Senna, Mercedes-AMG One, and Aston Martin Valkyrie. The supercars will give Porsche a run for the money. Porsche will be prepared, probably with a 918 Spyder in the cards.
