The Grand Tour just aired the third episode in Season 3, on Amazon Prime. Prime will remain the home of the show, as Season 4 was officially announced. Speculation is the series will go back to a similar format of the Top Gear days. They will produce more special type shows versus racing around the track. With Amazon’s deep pockets, money for production will not be a contending issue. Also, Andy William renewed his agreement with Amazon to stay on as the producer.
Highlights from Season 3 have been pretty exilerating. Clarkson had the opportunity back home in Britain, to open up the McLaren Senna. The twin-turbocharged, 789-horsepower supercar did not disappoint. The six-figure McLaren showcased performance perfection. Clarkson showed off the launch control feature, blasting 0-60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, reaching 187 mph in 18 seconds. Clarkson was only limited by track length in trying to reach top speeds of 217 mph, perhaps next time.
The McLaren Senna reportedly crushed the previous Eboladrome lap time at 1:12.90, with professional driver Abbie Eaton at the wheel. It beat the Aston Martin Vulcan by three seconds, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante by four seconds, and five seconds over the Ford GT. Pretty amazing results delivered by the McLaren Senna.
The Motown Funk episode has Clarkson, Hammond, and May in Detroit, tearing up the streets in three muscle cars. Hammond pushed 840 hp, in the Dodge Challenger Demon. Clarkson drove the RTR-tuned Ford Mustang with 700 hp. May had Hennessey’s Exorcist Camaro ZL1 screaming at 1,000 hp.
The Grand Tour episode four will be available February 8th, 2019.
