For the Chicago International Auto Show next week, Lexus will bring their vibrant yellow LC Inspiration Series concept car, from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, but in a production model. Lexus says the Flare Yellow with a metallic finish, will run in a very limited production of 100 units.
During the movie Black Panther, the concept version was used in an epic high-speed car chase. T’Challa, the hero, is seen holding onto the roof of a Lexus LC 500, while his sister, Shuri, virtually drives from her lab. Lexus teamed up with Marvel, to create this iridescent Structural Blue version of the Inspiration Series. That is great advertising for the Lexus brand.
Each car will be marked on the carbon fiber door sill covers with the production number. For the interior, the semi-aniline seats will have yellow stitching, which continues to the instrument panel, glove box and center console. The door inserts are made from Alcantara suede to compliment the Flare Yellow paint. The wheels for the production Inspiration Series have a 21-inch split five-spoke design. Like in the concept, the production will have a carbon fiber roof and grille insert.
The powertrain will remain stock with the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing 471 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It will hit 0-60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. Lexus has priced the LC Inspiration Series at $106,210, plus the destination fee of $1,025. The base LC500 has a starting price of $92,300, plus the destination fee. The 100 production units will be available starting in April. All buyers of this limited production Lexus will receive a leather garment bag, that can be doubled as a travel bag.
