Land Rover shares a dirty teaser of the new Defender before it debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The official unveiling will be on September 10, but here is a look at the front grille covered in dirt. The Land Rover Defender will go on sale in the United States in 2020, but ordering will open up after the debut.
Land Rover released the teaser picture of the dirty grille after it was spotted on the set of the latest James Bond film. The longtime fan favorite from Land Rover finally returns and people cannot wait. The new Defender will now ride on a unibody platform versus the former body-on-frame underpinnings setup. However, Land Rover continues to emphasis the off-road capability of the new model. Information is still somewhat limited, but we know it will be offered in both a two- and four-door model, have an independent front and rear suspension setup, and the Jaguar Land Rover’s new inline-six Ingenium engine will be offered.
For over 60 years, the Land Rover Defender has demonstrated rugged durability, versatility and capability. The all-new Defender has been tested in extreme situations, including 122 degrees Fahrenheit in the desert heat, -40 degree Fahrenheit Arctic cold temperatures, Rocky Mountain elevations and all the terrain in between.
For U.S. customers, Land Rover has already set up a website for interested customers to sign up for more information. A live stream will be available from the Frankfurt Motor Show on both Land Rover’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
