Through insider sources, Jeep is working on a high-performance version, of the recently revealed 2020 Gladiator, called “Hercules”. Speculation gives the Hercules a long-travel suspension, increased track width, and a higher-performance powertrain to give Jeep the opportunity to rival the larger Ford F-150 Raptor and similarly sized Chevy Colorado ZR2. In an interview given at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mark Allen, the head of Jeep’s design team, gave life to some of these so-called rumors. He made suggestions about a high-speed off-roading Jeep in an interview.
The Jeep Gladiator has the longest wheelbase of any current Jeep, giving it improved stability when powering across any terrain. The Gladiator Hercules would be a huge financial opportunity for Jeep because modifying it would be inexpensive compared to the initially price of the truck. The Hercules is also a great opportunity for Jeep to put a Hemi V8 under the hood of the brother to the Wrangler. Enthusiast will be excited for this conversion.
Jeep has some exciting options in its upcoming lineups with the all-new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer full-size SUV’s, plus a redesign fo the Grand Cherokee in 2020. With these on the horizon, the Jeep Gladiator Hercules will most likely debut in 2021, at the earliest. Hopefully, this rumor comes to fruition with its viability being tested in the market. Currently, it will remain a rumor with no reports of supplier contracts or prototypes being built.
