Volvo and Geely have collaborated to produce a new platform to underpin vehicles to be built for both brands. The Volvo Geely-designed platform reveals the FY11 SUV. Geely, the parent company, officially released photos of this model. Unfortunately, the design is less than original in appearance. Like a lot of other Chinese made vehicles, the design resembles another popular car. The FY11 is no different with a Mercedes GLE Coupe look. The front and rear fascia do have significant differences, but the side profile is almost an exact match.

The Geely FY11 will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The FY11 will have both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive initially. Distinct styling features include the direct frontal view and quad tailpipes. Geely made the statement that details will be available “in the near future”. Geely does confirm plans to bring a range of vehicles to the U.S. and Europe soon. They are currently not sold in those markets.
