Rumor alert: Ford Raptor is getting the Mustang GT500’s Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. A source within Ford leaked that Ford is putting the 700 plus hp engine in a special edition Raptor. This would jump the power up from the 450 hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that is currently standard. The Super Raptor is anticipated to arrive in 2020 or 2021 just before a redesign.

Several different sources have confirmed that Ford is building the Super Raptor. It will be the final send off the this generation of F-150. The 700 hp will give the truck some monster sized power. The 10-speed transmission used by both Ford and GMC will most likely be the paired system, but Ford could add a Dana rear axle to support the new power.

The truck market is cutthroat, and earning top spot is always the goal. The Super Raptor will give Ram’s planned TRX Edition pickup some competition. The TRX will have a supercharged Hellcat V8 engine that pumps out around 700 hp. Ram will have the initial edge due to an earlier production date. Both trucks will have a short production run.

Currently, the base pricing on a Ford Raptor is $54,450. The expectation puts pricing around $70,000. The price tag is steep, but where else can you have competing options for a supercharged truck.
