Dodge announced Power Dollars, an incentive program giving buyers a $10 discount per horsepower. This is the time to get that Hellcat you have always wanted. The faster the car, the bigger the discount. This is Dodge’s next step in their mission to bringing more horsepower to the streets. Starting August 1, this discount will be available on select models.
Dodge is offering the Power Dollars program to the 2019 Challenger, the 2019 Charger and the 2019 Durango. The math is easy, if you buy a 500-horsepower car, you get a $5,000 discount. The 797-horsepower Challenger Hellcat Redeye gets a $7,970 discount. The Charger SXT with a 3.6-liter V6 at 292 horsepower is eligible for a $2,920 discount. The Dodge Grand Caravan and Journey are not part of the Power Dollar program.
This marketing move from Dodge is definitely designed to help boost sales, while also minimizing old inventory. The 2020 Dodge lineup will start delivering soon to dealerships, and the extra incentive is a great way to make space for new inventory.
Tim Kuniskis, the global head of Alfa Romeo and FCA’s head of passenger cars in North America explained in a statement, “Since bringing the Charger and the Challenger back to the market, Dodge has put 485 million horsepower into the hands of our loyal enthusiasts. The goal is to grow to half-billion horsepower before the end of the year.” Currently, Dodge is around 15 million horsepower short of the goal. The automaker will need to sell about 18,820 units of the Hellcat Redeye to reach the goal, or comparatively 51,370 units of the Charger SXT.
