VW has a new Passat to be debuted next week at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. The automaker gave a teaser tweet of a 19-inch wheel, paired with a Continental ContiPro tires. This is a suggestion of a performance oriented R Model being avaialable. Tweeted with the picture, VW gave the statistics on the amount of sedans sold in 2018, 4.25 million. VW using that data to inform the world that their product is still relevant and in demand.
The refreshed Passat will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The engine boosts 174 horsepower as before, but torque will increase almost 25 lb-ft hitting 207 lb-ft. Speculation give the Passat the six-speed automatic transmission as the only option. Next week at the Detroit Auto Show, the full specs will be available.
