The 2020 Porsche 911 Speedster has its North American Debut at the New York Auto Show. The automaker is limiting production to only 1,948 units worldwide. This number of units is significant because it represents the Porsche 356 “Number 1” that received its operating license on June 8, 1948. Not only are quantities limited, but the pricing is expensive costing around $275,750.
Like the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS, the Speedster has the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that produces 502 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. This model gets individual throttle bodies for better response, paired with a GT Sport six-speed manual transmission. The Speedster can do 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 192 miles per hour with a growl.
To enjoy the wind blowing through your hair, the 911 Speedster comes equipped with a manually operated lightweight fabric top. To help with weight reduction, lightweight door panels with storage nets and woven door pulls are added in conjunction with lots of carbon fiber. The hood, front fenders, and the twin-hoop rear deck are all made of carbon fiber. The front and rear fascias are made of polyurethane.
When purchasing the 911 Speedster, you get an exclusive Porsche Design 911 Speedster Chronograph watch. The watch features a carbon fiber dial, a rotor modeled after the Speedster’s center lock wheel, and a strap made of Porsche interior leather.
