The 2020 GMC Sierra gets more options and updates. Options are now more available than previous years, including a Diesel engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, new towing camera and towing app updates. The GMC Sierra full-size pickup truck looks pretty much the same, but the available options will make buyers excited. The 2020 GMC Sierra model is this generation of truck’s second year on the market.

The 3.0-liter diesel inline-six and 10-speed automatic transmission are available throughout more trims this year. The diesel engine is available on every trim except the base Sierra. Also, the diesel engine is an option for the CarbonPro Edition AT4 and Denali, which previously only offered the 6.2-liter V8. The 10-speed automatic transmission has been standard and will continue to be with the 6.2-liter V8 and 3.0-liter diesel. However, it will be available with the 5.3-liter V8, but only to four-wheel-drive versions of the SLT, AT4 and Denali trims. All other variations will retain the eight-speed automatic.

In 2020, GMC added new towing-related features, along with a rear-view camera system looking into the truck’s trailer. The camera system feature was introduced in the Sierra HD. The 1500 model now has the option for the Enhanced ProGrade Trailering System, which features 15 cameras. GMC also added a feature to its trailer app that lets you store and share details on your setup. This information will make it easier if someone else is hooking up or using your trailer system. The myGMC app allows you to monitor and activate functions on compatible trailers. Technology is moving forward with ways to simplify ownership of vehicles.

Several other options are now available with the Sierra, such as adaptive cruise control, the Elevation trim is available with the Crew Cab configuration, and the AT4 CarbonPro Edition gets some extra black accents over the 2019 version. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system will now support Sirius XM with 360L, the satellite radio service’s on-demand platform. There has been no official announcement on pricing and available yet for the 2020 GMC Sierra.
