The 2020 Buick Encore GX is a new size in the crossover boom. The size of the GX fits right in between the Buick Encore and Envision, making it a bigger compact crossover. With Buick claiming 90% of its sales to the crossover market, the new addition to the lineup makes fiscal sense.
The Encore GX, despite initial assumption, doesn’t share anything with the current Encore model. GM says it is using a completely new platform. The GX even has five cubic square feet more cargo space than the current Encore. Details are very limited on the new GX, but it will feature standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-keep assist. A rear camera mirror is available as an upgrade option.
Vice President of Global Buick and GMC, Duncan Alfred said, “As we look to the future of Buick, the Encore GX positions us strongly as a consideration for those who want to purchase small or compact SUVs.” The new Buick Encore GX will officially launch in the United States in early 2020. Pricing and availability will be announced later this year.
