For its 80th anniversary in 2019, Lincoln is bringing back a limited production of its Continental sedan. In celebration, the Coach Door Edition will have the iconic doors that are hinged from the rear, rather than the front. With only 80 units being produced of the vintage-style Continental, the newly designed vehicle will be an exclusive item for clients to purchase. Each will be personalized with an unique badge. The cars are scheduled to be delivered by June 2019, exclusively in the United States. They will sell for more than $100,000. Another limited production is scheduled for 2020.
The 2019 Coach Door Edition has giant B-pillars, making it a little more robust and less elegant. This design modification is dictated by safety requirements. The center-opening coach doors are beautifully designed and easy to function. The 90-degree opening makes for easy entry and exit. It has an innovative electronic door system allowing doors to be unlatched in a smooth, single motion.
This Edition will be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which delivers power and performance with 400-hp and 400 pounds per feet of torque. Clients can personalize their driving experience with three Drive Modes, including Normal, Sport and Comfort.
It has an old-fashioned appearance, but the Continental has all the modern luxury features. It will have an elegantly designed rear-seat pass-through console with a stowable tray table and tablet holder. From the doors to the seating and the Lincoln Black Label interior, no detail was left out. Rear-seat passengers will enjoy the increased comfort, with the six-inch stretch of the wheelbase, delivering best-in-class second row legroom. This special edition will feature Perfect Position seats that adjust 30 ways, plus Active Noise Control to quiet the ride. A Revel Ultimate Audio gives the listener three modes, including stereo, audience and on-stage.
Continental clients will have their choice of Lincoln Black Label themes, the brand’s highest level of luxury, including Chalet and Thoroughbred. Lincoln Black Label provides high quality customized designer materials, including exclusive membership perks. The membership includes annual vehicle detailing, car washes, and access to a selection of restaurants with chef curated menus. Clients can order this model through Lincoln Black Label dealers.
