Between April and June of this year, BMW will build 400 units of the second special edition vehicle, the 2019 M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition. This beauty will be offered in Frozen Barcelona Blue metallic paint, complemented by black trim or the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line, from the grille frame, tailpipes and window surrounds. The M850i xDrive Coupe rides on Jet Black 20-inch light alloy M wheels with a Y-spoke design. BMW Individual will offer optional features including an M carbon roof and the M carbon exterior package.

The interior has a luxurious Ivory White and Night Blue Merino leather, paired with Night Blue on the steering wheel and an Alcantara roof liner. The trim is wrapped in “Black Piano,” which is a basic feature in other BMW products, and not an impressive design aspect. The 16-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround System, pumping out 1,400-watt is standard, which is typically a $3,400 option.

The 2019 M850i xDrive Coupe will be powered by a 4.4-liter Twin Turbo Premium Unleaded engine with 523 horsepower with 553 pounds per feet of torque. BMW used the Steptronic sports 8 speed automatic transmission. The Steptronic transmission has a fully automatic drive mode, a manual/sport drive mode that allows higher engine revving before shifts, and a manual shift mode that allows the driver to shift gear. Other features include the track-tuned chassis technology and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

As with all special edition vehicles, each coupe will have a plaque reading “First Edition 1/400.” Of the 400 units being produced, BMW confirms that only 200 of those are for the United States market. BMW has not released pricing, but with about $15,000 in upgrades, on top of the $111,900 base price tag, be prepared to pay a pretty premium.

The front and rear bumpers are designed to pull your eye down. The massive air intakes are actually functional. The non-functional outlets on the front fenders are sleek. The traditional M style is reflected in the mirrors, the pronounced rear spoilers, standard 20-inch wheels, and tires that are 255/45 up front and 265/45 in the rear. The 21-inch wheels are an optional upgrade.  […]
